The Zhucheng China Tyrannosaurus Museum is located in the north of Zangjiazhuang Village, Longdu Street, Zhucheng. It is named after the discovery and production of relatively complete tyrannosaur fossils (giant Zhucheng tyrannosaur). It is famous for collecting the fossil skeleton of a large feathered tyrannosaur (Yutyrannus huali). It is currently an ultra-large tyrannosaur-themed museum in China and is also known as the ‘tyrannosaur nest’.
The building area is 3,200 square meters and it is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction. The exterior is in the shape of a dinosaur eggshell. There are four functional areas: the original fossil display area, the dinosaur skeleton display area, the dynamic film viewing area, and the time tunnel display area. As a national 4A-level tourist attraction, it is an important scenic spot on Zhucheng’s ‘Dinosaur Tour’. There are ‘two major wonders and four dragon kings’ in the museum. ‘Two major wonders’ are: the seven-layer dinosaur fossil stacking area displayed on the original site; the complete site where tyrannosaurs are buried together with ceratopsians, ankylosaurs, and hadrosaurs. ‘Four dragon kings’ are the ‘giant Zhucheng tyrannosaur’, ‘huge Huaxia dragon’, ‘Zhucheng Sinoceratops’, and ‘Zhucheng Sinankylosaurus’ produced and named here. In the dynamic film viewing area, the specially-made dynamic film restores the tragic scene of the ‘giant Zhucheng tyrannosaur’ fighting with herbivorous dinosaurs such as hadrosaurs and ceratopsians in the Cretaceous period and explains the formation reasons of the geological wonders in the museum. In the time tunnel display area, taking time as the axis, it shows the whole process of the ‘giant Zhucheng tyrannosaur’ from birth, growth to extinction. Since its opening, millions of tourists have come here to visit and it has become a national scientific research, popular science, study and tourism destination with tyrannosaurs as the theme.
