The Kailuan National Mine Park is located on the southeast side of Tangshan urban area. It is a large-scale theme park mainly centered on coal mine culture. The scenic area takes the Kailuan coal mine established in 1878 as the main body, showing coal mine history, coal mining processes and historical deeds. It is a good place to understand coal mining knowledge and history. The scenic area is now mainly divided into two major parts.
One part is the Kailuan Museum, and the other part is the underground exploration tour. The Kailuan Museum is the main building in the park. The museum displays the establishment process of the Kailuan coal mine, the history of coal mining, methods and types of coal, etc. There is also a retrospective display of coal miners in history. You can learn about the knowledge of the Westernization Movement in the late Qing Dynasty and historical knowledge of coal mines. The content is rich. The underground exploration tour is a characteristic project of the scenic area. To visit, you must first enter the Kailuan Museum, so you need to buy tickets for both places at the same time. It is recommended to buy a joint ticket. The underground exploration tour takes a stuffy elevator directly from the fourth floor of the museum to the mine shaft of the former Kailuan coal mine. There is the on-site coal mining by miners in those years underground. Now, the mining scenes of those years have been restored through wax figures, sound, light and electricity, which is very distinctive. It is also a good place to understand the working conditions of coal mines. In addition to these two major parts, there are displays of former coal mine machinery on the square in the park. Moreover, the square is surrounded by green trees and the environment is very beautiful. Taking a walk and relaxing on the square after visiting the museum is also very good.Opening hours: Open from Tuesday to Sunday all year round from 08:30 to 18:00; closed all day on Monday all year round.
