Tiger Stone Marine Park: A Scenic Spot in Beidaihe

Tiger Stone Marine Park, located in the heart of the Beidaihe Scenic Area, covers an area of 33,000 square meters. Here, massive rocks stretch into the sea, resembling a group of tigers lying in wait, hence the name Tiger Stone. The Tiger Stone Bathing Beach is the central beach of Beidaihe’s coastal area, a renowned seawater bathing beach with a history of over 100 years. The beach is wide and the sea is vast, with a gentle slope into the sea and excellent water quality, making it a popular choice for summer sea bathing.
There is also a large entertainment park within the area, featuring activities such as parasailing, windsurfing, surfboarding, and a children’s playground, making it one of the largest comprehensive marine parks in the country. The park is dotted with reefs of various shapes, resembling a group of tigers. Some are scattered in the crystal-clear sand, some dominate the dense forest, some shower on the coast battered by huge waves, and some sleep soundly in the sunlight.

During high tide, the waves crash against the rocks, creating a thousand layers of snow-like waves. When the wind is calm and the waves are still, the light on the water in front of the rocks is sparkling, with seagulls flying. The clear sky and the sea merge into one color. Standing on the rocks, one can listen to the breath of the sea, watch the sails of fishing boats, fish with a rod, and look back to see the towering peaks.

The azure sea, golden sand, and rocky stones attract both domestic and international tourists to spend their summers here, playing in the water, taking a seawater bath, and basking in the sun, which leaves tourists and poets lingering.

To the west of Tiger Stone, there is a small pier that can moor small yachts and tour boats, making it an ideal place for sightseeing and fishing. To the west of the small pier, there is a ‘Turtle Watching Pavilion’, which is small and exquisite, full of charm. Surrounding the scenic area, there are buildings of various rest and rehabilitation units with their own characteristics. The opening hours are from 06:00 to 19:00 all year round, and the specific business status is subject to the actual opening situation on the day.

Must-see Tip: There is a beautiful legend about these rocks that resemble tigers. When Emperor Qin Shi Huang toured the eastern part of Ji Shi and unified the world, he came to the Bohai Sea, thinking about seeking pleasure and immortality. He came to the Bohai Sea, where there were magical fairy mountains in the sea. One day, as he was walking, he suddenly encountered a big mountain blocking his way.

The angry Qin Shi Huang took out his mountain-driving whip and lashed the mountain three times. Immediately, the mountain rose, making way for the road, and the broken tiger stones flew into the air, heading northeast. The violent Emperor Qin Shi Huang chased the flying stones with his whip and horse, until he reached the sea. Suddenly, the huge stones disappeared, and he saw groups of colorful fierce tigers playing on the beach, some even baring their teeth and claws at him.

Emperor Qin Shi Huang was terrified and ran away quickly.
After intimidating Emperor Tai Shi, the group of fierce tigers transformed back into various postured stones, and since then, they have become reefs of diverse shapes, admired and visited by people. This is the Tiger Stones we see today. The beach in this area is also named after them, known as Tiger Stones Beach.
